What Can Projections of Ow Elds Tell Us about the Visual Motion
نویسنده
چکیده
The dimensionality of visual motion analysis can be reduced by analyzing projections of ow vector elds. In contrast to motion vector elds, these projections exhibit simple geometric properties which are invariant to the scene structure and depend only on the camera motion. Using these properties, structure and motion can be either completely or partially decoupled. We estimate motion parameters from projections of ow elds by using robust techniques, implemented in a recursive observer model. The model is applicable to general camera motion and to large eld of view and requires no point correspondence. We demonstrate our projection method on the problem of detecting independently moving objects from a moving camera. Using the projection approach, the problem can be reduced to a one-dimensional optimization process which involves robust line-tting and outlier detection. Instantaneous detection measurements are integrated temporally using tracking and spatially applying grouping of coherently moving points.

The dimensionality of visual motion analysis can be reduced by analyzing directional components (projections) of ow elds. In contrast to vector elds, these lower-dimensional spaces exhibit two simple geometric properties which are invariant to the scene structure and depend only on the camera motion. Using these properties, structure and motion can be separated. The approach is closely related ...

We present a theory for the construction of an optimal matched lter for self-motion induced optic ow elds. The matched lter extracts local ow components along a set of pre-de ned directions and weights them according to an optimization principle which minimizes the di erence between estimated and real egomotion parameters. In contrast to previous approaches, prior knowledge about distance and t...

متن کاملIndependent 3D Motion Detection Using Residual Parallax Normal Flow Fields
This paper considers a speci c problem of visual perception of motion, namely the problem of visual detection of independent 3D motion. Most of the existing techniques for solving this problem rely on restrictive assumptions about the environment, the observer's motion, or both. Moreover, they are based on the computation of a dense optical ow eld, which amounts to solving the illposed correspo...
